When the winter happens, it’s a signal for us as women to go inward, to take a pause, to take a rest. Sometimes you need a double winter. Maybe it’s not a year of hard, maybe it’s a year of rest. - Jenn Pike
Hey you wild woman!
You may have noticed a theme in the episodes lately. A lot of focus has been on mental and physical health. I didn't want this to be another reminder about how to live a healthy life. Instead, I want you to take action!
When sh*t gets hard, as it often does, our body releases cortisol, the stress hormone, which helps us with our flight or fight instinct. But too much of it wreaks havoc on our bodies. Issues manifest in the most peculiar ways, like throat pain, back pain, migraines, and weight gain (Ah!) And in women, especially, we hold on to this stress way more (hello worry bug), not because we choose to, but because it's natural for us to agonize about the same things over again and never release the tension.
When we don't have a healthy foundation, we easily get sick. And when we get sick, we can't work to our maximum capacity or be present with our kids in a way they deserve. We ignore signals from our body that it's time to slow the F down, pause, and take a break, thinking that we will lose momentum or miss a business opportunity if we do. Also, we put our own needs not on the back burner but a whole other stove. Then it gets really ugly.
This is why I brought on Jenn Pike as a guest this week. She is a Medical Exercise Specialist and Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist specializing in women's health and hormones. I wanted to discuss how to 'hack our nervous system' so we can show up feeling REALLY good every day. And she shares some secrets + warnings. Hint: It takes time to build that healthy foundation, but if you're committed, you can become an ironwoman.
In this episode you will learn about:
How our body makes us ‘sick’ to get our attention
How operating from a place of should versus could caused her massive burnout
How there is a better way to grow a business without burning out
The difference between the fawn (the freeze) versus the fight
How we react in a panic is how we react in business
It changes everything if your body is 1% off of where you want to go.
You have to ask “how good can you feel?”
Why women never feel the same way every two days because of hormones and how to understand and appreciate those stages
