The anchor for me for when I am in doubt is to just create: when in doubt, create.. - Stacy Ennis
Hey you wild woman!
“Being location independent is having the freedom to be able to work from wherever.” - Stacy Ennis
Create a vision for the life you want, write it down every day, explore the options and SET A DATE to make it happen.
I remembered three years ago, I kept telling myself that I wanted to launch a podcast and mentioned it a billion times to my husband. Then, one day, he turned to me and asked, "When's the day? What date is this going live? Open up your calendar and tell me when, or else I don't want to hear about it anymore."
Ok their buddy, I thought.
So I opened up my calendar, looked 2-months out, and decided on April 27th, 2020. So I publicly declared to him and the world that this is what I was working on. And then I got to work.
The same method can work for creating a supportive location independent lifestyle. Who says you have to live in the city you were raised? Or that you have to go into an office with ugly fluorescent lights and watercooler chats that drive you crazy? YOU DON'T! Today's luxury is the freedom to design our lives that support our dreams and goals, surrounded by the people who build us up.
This week I chatted with Stacy Ennis, best-selling author, creative consultant, and speaker, as well as the founder of Nonfiction Book School, a mid-west native now living in Portugal with her family. Her TEDx talk, "How to raise brave kids," has been viewed tens of thousands of times around the world, and she is walking the walk.
In this episode, you will learn about:
Why she started for a location-independent lifestyle
How writing is a great way to reframe and get back to being creative
How we can have productive failures
Why most people don't think they have a story in them
Why living abroad is a significant experience
You have to be intentional about when you visit your loved ones
Living abroad is hard, and you have to be realistic about your intentions
How your family is a little ecosystem and each person has an impact
We create freedom by being location independent
Start with creating a vision
How journaling about the life Stacy wanted helped her make it come to life
What it means to be a wild woman:
Having the courage to try and fail at things. That means making choices that aren't necessarily the status quo and then making more choices.
